Have you ever wondered why wearing a uniform is important and, most of the time, mandatory? The basic logic is that uniforms can show that you are a part of an organization, showing that you are part of an identity. But wearing a uniform can bring many more advantages.

As said before, it helps create cohesion: by wearing the same clothes every day, it is possible to level out the playing field and help develop a better sense of equality. People from every kind of socioeconomic background are able to feel equal: creating a standard promotes the idea that we are all the same and, therefore, creates cohesion.

It can also reduce the potential for bullying. Without uniforms, the potential for bullying is much bigger. Clothes are a way to express yourself, and when expressing yourself differently, it can (sadly) end up with kids making fun of kids. By not having a standard, the chances of creating divisions between students increase, and the basis for peer pressure decreases.

On the other hand, implementing uniforms is also a way of improving study ethic: the feeling of not 'fitting in' can damage confidence, and the lack of it is one of the key factors to academic failure. Using a uniform means that the child has one less thing to worry about and that in itself is one more thing to improve confidence. It can also help increase safety once it makes someone recognizable from a distance. If anyone that isn't a student enters the school site, they can be identified. It's also helpful when making school trips since the uniform makes it easy to identify from a long distance among crowds.

If we think on the practical side, a uniform also gives us an advantage: by already knowing what you need to dress, you have one less thing to worry about in the morning while also encouraging professionalism. A uniform can help develop an affinity with learning, which can lead to more focus inside the classroom.

To sum up, school uniforms are a great way to develop a sense of togetherness among students and even staff members, which in its way contributes to various advantages at the academic and professional levels.
