The Benefits of Exercise for Workers.

Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type are all letters in the acronym FITT. Average daily exercise time for men is 24 minutes and for women is 14 minutes. The daily activities we engage in, regardless of our minds being fixed on exercising, are what matter. It is not about how rigorous you are or having your mind made up about going to a location to exercise, wearing some type of attire to indicate dedication, or anything else. Although it is impossible to define the word "exercise" in isolation without first defining its various components, such as "physical," "mental," "mental/emotional," "spiritual," etc. The definition of the word as "a carrying out of an action; a doing or practicing; a disciplinary task" was first found in the late 14th century. The subject has grown to be worthwhile to study and has earned degrees in kinesiology, exercise physiology, and other fields. Exercise is physical activity done only to train, develop, or maintain one's physical fitness.

From time to time while sitting in a particular position without movement, the body will begin to develop fatigue from such a position. It starts with a basic lower back pain, advances into a neck pain, then headaches especially if the employee’s workload requires a desk and a computer. Regularly within some work intervals, the body will require some movement, although an employer does not have to run a full gym within his or her workplace before a form of exercise can be established, but a walk to the restroom can be a basic way to start effective workplace exercise.

As stated above, exercise is not only the rigorous physical activity done but also the other components like mental, emotional and social activity. Some workplaces dedicate a room within the workplace whereby recreational activities are set up for workers to relax and take a short time out during their work hours. Some of these activities are; console games setup, karaoke, bookshelves for employees interested in reading, coffee machines to refresh concentration etcetera.

According to studies, the quality of our physical routine has a direct impact on how sharp our minds are. And our effectiveness at work is the one area where the ramifications are most important. Companies don't always care about the physical well-being of their workers, but perhaps they need to. Exercise offers numerous advantages for employees, one of which is an increase in productivity. Another is minimizing the effects of ‘presenteeism’. Businesses who invest in the physical and emotional health of their employees could see a ROI of £4.17 for every £1 spent, according to the British Heart Foundation. Additionally, if companies "successfully encouraged their staff to meet World Health Organization guidelines on exercise," the global economy may gain up to $100 billion annually. To put it into perspective, that only amounts to about 15 minutes of daily walking.

Some other importance include; work relationship improvement, lowers the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle, amongst others.
