The helmet is effective in reducing head injuries. Wearing a helmet helps to reduce the impact of an accident on your head. If you face a collision without wearing a helmet, it might cause external as well as internal brain injuries, which can cost your life. Thus, you should wear helmets to protect your life. The role of a helmet is to reduce the acceleration of the skull during a collision, absorbing some of the forces being transferred to the brain on impact. Thus decreasing the severity of damage to the brain in high-impact collisions and helping to prevent concussions in lower-impact collisions.

Helmets are 37 percent effective in preventing deaths and 67 percent effective in preventing brain injuries caused by accidents. Helmets saved an estimated 1,872 lives in 2017. 749 more lives could have been saved if all of them had worn helmets in 2017.

Wearing a helmet reduced the risk of head injury by 63% and of loss of consciousness by 86%. Wearing the right size helmet protects both your head and brain, preventing external and internal damage. If you are unsure if an accident has resulted in an injury, it is always safer to seek medical attention.
