Where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, it can cause heat stress because of its weight and the fact that it prevents sweat from evaporating from the skin. In such situations, employers should let work happen more slowly. You should allow more frequent rotation of personnel in this environment. Allow longer recovery time before re-entry; provide conditions for PPE to dry; and consider shifting work to colder times of the day. Review your risk assessment to decide whether you can automate the process. Review your PPE and get new versions if needed.
